90s Linen Jogger Set

(Test Post)

Out shopping and was delighted to see Mexx outfits, a presumed dead brand of my childhood. I felt inspired by their linen boxy top and culottes set. I have some linen sitting in my fabric stash and got to work on some wearable muslins. I wanted something loose fitting and clean.

Mexx Inspiration

Looking through my pattern collection, I settled on modifying the portrait blouse from Gertie’s Book on Better Sewing. Wanting a simpler garment, the tucks and side-zip were omitted. I had used my size in the shoulders, and graded out one more size. This afforded enough space to nix the zipper.

The top required lowering the bust dart and extending the length of the arm scythe for a relaxed fit.

This was my first time using rick-rack. I’ve accumulated so much of the stuff from second hand sources. It’s obscene.

I did not rick rack the pants.

Feeling nostalgic, I wanted the tapered jogger of the early 90s. Easy McCall’s 4798, View C was the starting point and I had elasticized the bottom hem.

Being a little too big for me, I pinched out fabric from the hips and did a sway-back adjustment.

Looking forward to making more in fun fabrics.
